Remove silences from a video automatically
Pauses make talking videos drag. Split's AI finds the silences and cuts them out in one go, so your video gets tighter without you scrubbing through every second.
How to cut the silences
- Open your talking video or podcast in Split.
- Click Cut silences on Home, or type “cut the silences” to SplitIT.
- Play it back. If a cut feels too tight, ask “leave a little more breathing room” or drag the clip edge.
- Add captions in the same edit if you like: “cut the silences and add captions”.
Good to know
- Removing silences usually shortens a talking video by a fifth to a third.
- Music under the voice can hide pauses; the cleaner the voice track, the better the result.
- Everything stays editable: undo any cut you want back.
