An AI video editor that edits when you type
Split is a video editor with an AI built in. Tell it what you want in plain words, like “cut the silences and add captions”, and it does the edit on a real timeline you can still change by hand.
What an AI video editor does
A normal editor makes you do every cut yourself: find the pause, split the clip, delete the gap, nudge the next clip over. An AI video editor does those steps for you from a short description, and leaves you a normal timeline to check and adjust.
In Split the AI is called SplitIT. It works on the same timeline you edit, so nothing is locked inside a template: every cut, caption and title it adds is a normal clip you can move, trim or delete.
What you can ask SplitIT for
- Cut silences: removes pauses and dead air from talking videos and podcasts.
- Auto captions: listens to the speech and adds captions you can restyle.
- Make it 30 seconds: trims a long video down to a short one for TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
- Recap: picks the best moments into a short highlight.
- Beat sync: cuts your clips to the beat of the music.
- Anything else you can describe: “put the title in yellow”, “make the intro faster”, “use the beach clips first”.
You can also attach a reference video (up to 5 minutes) in the chat and ask SplitIT to edit like it.
Copy any edit with Genjitsu
Genjitsu is Split's second AI tool. Give it a video whose editing you like (up to 10 minutes) and your own clips, and it rebuilds the same cuts, pacing, text and song with your footage. How Genjitsu works.
Free editing, credits only for AI
Split is free to download. Editing by hand and exporting are always free, with no watermark. AI edits use credits; new accounts get free credits to try SplitIT and Genjitsu, and you see what an edit costs before it starts.
Where it runs
Split runs on Windows 10 and 11 PCs and on Android phones (Android 8 and newer). Download Split.

Yes. Split is free to download and editing by hand is always free. New accounts get free credits to try the AI, and more credits can be bought when you need them.
Can AI edit a video for me?
Yes. In Split you describe the edit (for example “cut the silences and add captions”) and SplitIT makes it on the timeline. You can then change anything by hand.
